Experience Upper Macungie Recreation at These Local Parks (+ Community Center Events!)
The Upper Macungie Township area is home to several excellent parks and recreation facilities. Take advantage of the outdoor activities that are nearby, and make sure not to miss out on all of the fun events in your area!
Parks and Trails
Apple Park: This 18.2 acre green space has several ponds that are perfect for picnics and fishing. There is a local free Family Fishing Program at this location in July.
Blue Barn Park: This spot is a smaller with a fenced in basketball court and 3 fenced in tennis courts.
Earl Adams Memorial Park: Enjoy this modern facility with the whole family. There are two pavilions for rent, as well as amenities like playground areas and numerous sport areas. This is also the home of the annual Independence Day Fireworks show.
Church Street Park: There is a large field with a pavilion for games and other outdoor activities.
Dog Parks: There are two parks that offer fenced-in off-leash areas for dogs of all sizes. Make sure to read up on the dog park rules before taking your furry friend.
Fogelsville Dam Park: This park is an expansive 50-acre space with hiking trails that take you over Hassen Creek. There are lots of birds and wildlife to spot near the dam! Be mindful that the water levels change depending on rainfall and snowmelt.
Grange Park: This massive 165 acre lot is outfitted with two pavilions for rent, concessions, bathrooms, playgrounds, and tons of sport areas. There are future plans to develop more pavilions, more room for more sports, and even a splash park!
Independent Park: This is a gorgeous facility with a wrap-around deck and a beautiful two-story fireplace to enjoy the breathtaking views. This venue has a 9 hole golf course as well.
Lone Lane Park: This area houses a large pavilion and playground, which is perfect for gathering and picnics.
Ricky Park: This 14 acre lot has pavilions, grills, two tennis courts, a basketball court, baseball/softball fields, and plenty of playgrounds. There’s also a paved walking trail, perfect for a Sunday stroll.
Upper Macungie Park: This is a large park with 156 acres, perfect for cookouts with pavilions and grills. It also has a disc golf course, playgrounds, two baseball fields, sand volleyball, and more!
October Events
Barktoberfest: Join the fun on Saturday, October 7th from 11-3pm at the Upper Macungie Park for a Halloween party with your pets! Admission is FREE, but all pets must be on a leash. Come dressed up in your favorite Halloween outfit. There will be plenty of music, food, and other vendors. You can even become part of the Pet Parade for a chance to compete for prizes! You could win up to $100!
Hunter/Trapper: The Pennsylvania Game Commission Hunter/Trapper Education Course is FREE, but you must register. The course is Sunday, October 8th from 9-4pm at the Independent Park Community Center. Visit the website to register today.
